About Guerlain
Guerlain is unique among its great French rivals in that it began its life and continued its focus as a house of perfume and cosmetics, rather than being a fashion house that branched into beauty products. In 1828 Pierre Guerlain opened for business creating individual fragrances for each customer and rapidly gained a reputation for his unique style based on vanilla and amber notes that invoked a sense of fine confectionery and came to be known as "Guerlinade". The success of the house was sealed when its fragrances became highly sought after by European royalty including Queen Victoria of England and Queen Isabella of Spain. Pierre's sons Aime and Gabriel inherited the business and drove it to new heights with innovative perfumes such as Fleur d'Italie (1884), Rococco (1887) and Jicky (1889).
Devotees of fine perfume value Guerlain for its impeccable pedigree stretching back almost two centuries. The DNA of the Guerlain dynasty can be found in every one of its masterpieces and the unique harmonies they sought to create in the signature Guerlinade style based on bergamot, tonka beans and vanilla as well as other luxurious and complex ingredients. The house has an uncompromising devotion to quality raw materials sourcing the best examples from wherever in the world they are produced. This attention to detail and the matchless combination of respect for the classic traditions of the art of perfumery and the constant values of sophistication, innovation and technical know how. Today, Guerlain forms part of the LVMH family of luxury brands and while preserving its heritage as a house of fragrances has adapted its expertise to a select range of skin care and make up products.
